Bali Necklace From The Sleeping Doofus

This was our last day in Bali, and I didn’t want to go back. But no, like responsible boring grown ups we packed our luggage early, instead of extending our hotel stay for one more day. I already planned to call in sick to the office since yesterday. But the others were not backing me up on this. You will regret this decision on Monday morning guys!

Today we were going to explore Seminyak and spend our last rupiahs there. We booked a car for a full day for IDR 400k, including the driver and petrol. Our plan was quite straightforward. No dilly-dallying. Shopping – lunch – massage and change our flight itinerary go to the Airport.

W Hotel We saw Seminyak yesterday night, on our way to W’s bar, located in this  fancy new hotel at the heart of Seminyak. Since we got out very late and very drunk from there yesterday, we decided do it today instead.

Explore, shop and buy some cheap last minute souvenirs for colleagues.

Well the cheap souvenirs buying part I didn’t need to do. You see, I told people at work I have some personal issue to attend to so they wouldn’t contact me while I am on leave. My task for the day is not to get more tanned (and it was a frigging hot day). Coming back with a sunburn doesn’t align with an emergency situation except if I told them … hmm what could be emergency thing in the beach or tanning saloon that I had to fly across the country to attend to? I can’t think of any. Please give me some suggestions.

Clearer, in the daylight, Seminyak looked like an upper class Kuta.

These shops are cute, but most charge too much. Maybe because they cater more for the tourist from down south? I was a bit intimidated by it. As you know swanky anything, be it a bar, restaurant or even an area, intimidates me. Swanky is not my habitat.

Today I was looking for a necklace which was sported by a white chick heading towards the airport while we just came out from it and breathed in the Bali air. I pointed it out to the BFF. “I want her necklace”, I yelled like a fashionista. Wait, do fashionistas yell about the stuff they like when they spot it? I imagine they would. “CRUCIANI BRACELET !!”, “BIRKIN BAG !!”..

Back to the streets of Seminyak, here you need to be able to bargain. And bargaining, my friends, is a skill that I have yet to learn. When I finally spotted the similar necklace in some small stalls at Seminyak Square. I stopped at the first store and asked for the necklace price. “50k IDR”, he said. “Too expensive”, I said. Then I started to stare at him, I was trying to hypnotize him into giving me a better deal. He didn’t budge. (Note to self: This hypnotizing people thing need more practice). I walked away to the opposite shop who invited me in.I asked for the price to the seller dude # 2, he said, “75k IDR”. I was confused. Didn’t he see me walking away from a cheaper one? Not long after that, I saw both sellers high-fiving. Very mature guys. Very “business-minded”. I walked out from that over-priced square.

Pink Bracelet We had our lunch at Warung Eropa and continued with the mission to save the world economy. BFF got bracelets for her friends and I was in and out of stores still looking for this particular necklace. After some time I gave up. I headed back to join her in another shop. There, my most awesome BFF in the world handed it to me. The necklace. “I got you this,” she said. She bought it for me! and here I was thinking she didn’t even look at it when we were at the airport earlier.

Anyways, I was happy. I wore it immediately.

Our last check list in Bali was to get a massage since there was only little time left. We decided to go for a foot massage instead. It was heavenly. These shoes squeezed foot much appreciated the pampering.

We are in the plane, in the sky, when I am writing this. BFF is beside me, sleeping, not knowing I was smiling sweetly to her because of her thoughtfulness. Instead, she is sleeping like a doofus.

Btw, since the sleeping doofus bought it for me, it feels kinda like a friendship necklace (she got herself the bracelet version of it). It reminded me of my other besties, so I got it for them and then I was reminded of you so I got it for you.

Whoever you are, who read this, or one day read this. I only bought one so I will need to choose one of you. Please leave a comment on this post about you, your BFF, jewelries or Bali or anything. I will pick randomly (if there is more than one of you) and ship it to wherever you are.

Sounds like a good bargain? Just drop a comment guys.

Bye Bali

Bye Bye Bali see you soon.
